What's with the 'deceased child' thing in sf movies these days? It's getting a bit repetitive. Gravity, Arrival, that Cloverfield Netflix movie I can't recall the name of atm, and didn't we just have a deceased child in Annihilation too (although, yay, not the main character's). No more dead child as an emotional motivator in sf movies for the next five years, OK? And if it's absolutely necessary, then for a change write the parent of the dead child to be the father.
